The project conducts educational workshops and seminars for professionals, as well as community outreach programs for the general public on topics such as energy efficiency, solar energy, healthy homes, universal design for the elderly and handicapped, water conservation, and hurricane protection. A new on-campus Green Building Learning Center, which will incorporate and demonstrate these concepts, is currently being designed.

The Center for Urban and Regional Ecology (CURE) is a multi-university/multi-disciplinary program dedicated to meeting the urban challenges of the future through a holistic approach. CURE was created in 1998 with an integrated team of natural scientists, engineers, economists, city planners, and policy and social scientists from the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, and the Georgia State University. The team is fully functional and committed to research, education, and service endeavors that explore and promote options for human prosperity in a healthy environment while improving air, water, land use, and biodiversity at the scale of regional ecosystems in which cities are embedded.
