The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Sustainability Program is dedicated to promoting a healthy and sustainable environment in Colorado.The primary program objectives are: - To promote innovative efforts to develop and implement environmentally sustainable practices in Colorado. - To serve as a champion for integrating environmental sustainability concepts into CDPHE activities, administrative functions, and regulatory programs. - To build and leverage partnerships in order to integrate environmental sustainability concepts into Colorado business, public, and government practices.

The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) offers technical assistance, financial assistance, and education and outreach to Federal agencies to help them meet the energy efficiency, water conservation and renewable energy goals set by legislation and executive order. FEMP conducts several dozen trainings annually, produces publications on emerging technologies, and distributes the FEMPFocus newsletter to 9,600 Federal facility managers. FEMP was an early supporter of and participant in the Greening of Yellowstone project.

The Idaho Division of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is responsible for implementing environmental protection laws and programs for the State of Idaho. DEQ provides educational and technical assistance to business, local and state government agencies, and interested citizens regarding water quality, air quality and hazardous waste issues.

The Pollution Prevention bureau works with businesses, local governments, and others to reduce waste, develop markets for materials that would otherwise be considered waste, and create private public partnerships to further pollution prevention efforts.

The Montana Environmental Information Center, MEIC, is a member-supported, non-profit, advocacy organization founded in 1973 to protect and restore Montana's natural environment. MEIC's issue priorities include energy, air and water quality, hazardous and solid waste, land use and growth, and hardrock mining. MEIC is also committed to protecting the instruments of democracy. Montana's environmental watchdog, MEIC lobbies the legislature, monitors state government, and educates the public.

The Utah Office of Energy Services runs the State Energy Program which includes programs such as: Energy codes, sustainable housing, and renewable resource development. Some of the programs that they have undertaken in Utah are: Home Energy Rating System (HERS) and Energy Efficient mortgages. These programs allow home owners to participate in a home energy rating program and to qualify for special energy-efficient mortgages. Builders and lending institutions benefit when customers request energy efficient add-ons and homeowners benefit from lower utility costs.
