Their programs include community gardens and gardening education, a neighborhood tool library, and a residential demonstration site. The demonstration site includes working demonstrations of strawbale building, salvage lumber use, energy effficient appliances, solar photovoltaics and energy conservation strategies. Case Studies Commercial Yellowstone National Park - Case Study Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190 307-344-2301 Environmental/sustainable work in Yellowstone has been multi-faceted. Two "Greening" workshops have been held (1995 and 1997) specifically to increase awareness and partnerships with the local municipalities, states, and Federal agencies. Projects have included co-composting of municipal solid waste with 4 counties and two cities; rural recycling with 9 counties; a program that has substituted hydro-carbon oil with bio-synthetic oil in Yellowstone and surrounding communities; intelligent transportation work in the region; design standards for buildings; and an aggressive, integrated pollution prevention program. |
