Victoria Schomer has been spearheading the environmental arena for interior design professionals since 1989. For her pioneering work in the green design and building field, she received the national American Society of Interior Designer's prestigious "Design for Humanity Award" for 2000. Victoria produced the first national green design and building newsletter (Building Concerns Newsletter) and the first national materials resource guide (Interior Concerns Resource Guide), and founded the nonprofit, Building Concerns, to share information and create programs in support of these important sustainability issues. This organization produces this directory program. Victoria has been a commercial and residential interior designer since 1972, teaches numerous course on green design and build, and indoor air quality issues, advises to other building and design professionals, and is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers' Sustainable Design Committee. She is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Philanthrophy By Design (PBD) is an organization of volunteers dedicated to transforming the interiors of social agencies using donated products. Their mission is to divert over 100 tons annually of usable furnishings, materials, and interior artwork from landfill to nonprofit facilities where funding does not provide for interior enhancements.
